Disneyland sure knows how to celebrate the holiday season. The theme park in Anaheim, California goes all out for the Halloween Season, and now, they're ready for the festive spirit that the holidays bring.
A first look at the 2017 Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House, which is in its 17th season, was released on Disneyland's Blog. This year's spectacular creation features Oogie Boogie, who finally gets his opportunity to shine after a 13 year absence in the ballroom.
Tim Wollweber, the associate art director for Disney Parks, designed the Holiday Gingerbread House, describing it as having "A bug problem – gingerbread bugs! But it’s not a problem that a gingerbread Oogie Boogie can’t fix. He pried open the roof of the gingerbread mansion and has his fork at the ready, happy to fix the infestation in the only way he would – by eating them.”
But... these nasty bugs aren't just inside the mansion, they've escaped and are "rampaging across the ballroom table, tormenting the gingerbread zombies there, who are forced to defend themselves with silverware!” said Wollweber.
The gingerbread house stands at six feet tall, while the animated Oogie Boogie stands at a whopping seven feet. There are more than 70 bugs running across the ballroom table and in the ballroom itself. But, some may have gone even further than the ballroom... will you be able to find them?
The creative team at Disneyland Resort Central Bakery, including Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Viallet and Lead Pastry Chef Edgar Urtola, shared their shopping list to let everyone know how much was needed in order to create the masterpiece.
The Disneyland Blog shared the information:
