"The Colonel" is the ghost that is rumored to haunt this hotel and his spirit is said to be seen most often between midnight and 4 AM. He has been spotted in the ballroom and back hallways and appears as an older man dressed in black. Many believe that when he was alive, he was a decorated Civil War hero and may have even owned the plantation that once stood where the hotel stands today.
