There is a legend surrounding this park that dates back to the 1800's. It is about the beautiful daughter of a Native-American chief who married a warrior. When he died on a hunting trip, the woman was so heartbroken that she jumped from the high cliff and died in the waters below. Witnesses have heard her ghost crying and have seen her apparitions on nights when there is a full moon. It has been said that the ghost will sometimes re-create her death by jumping off the cliff, then she vanishes. Ironically enough, Creve Coeur is French for “broken heart.”

Every time I go there to walk around the lake I always got a eerie feeling especially in the wooded area and this would be during the day time . I never knew about that story , very interesting and no wonder I felt the way I did when I would walk around there ????
